About

Hi, I am Yulieth — a political scientist, international politics researcher, data enthusiast, and passionate about computational social science.
I was born in Santa Marta, the oldest American city and a vibrant Caribbean town in northern Colombia. My academic journey has taken me from Colombia to Brazil, where I earned my Ph.D. in Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and then to Germany, where I was visiting researcher at the Research Group for International Politics at the University of Konstanz.
My research focuses on the intersection of international relations and emergency studies. I use a comparative regionalism approach and a multi-method design, blending qualitative insights with computational techniques such as PCA, clustering, NLP, and large language models. In my doctoral work, I explored how Regional Integration Organizations respond to transboundary emergencies and developed the Emergency Measures Index (EMI) to assess institutional responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beyond emergency politics, I am deeply interested in regional integration, international institutions, gender, conflict, and comparative studies. I love working with both qualitative and quantitative methods and am always exploring new analytical tools to enrich my work.
